And if we linger a little bit more in Cişmigiu Park, waiting for the dark, we can catch a glimpse of the lighted back of Kretzulescu Palace.
More than two years ago I wrote a post about Romania’s “national poet”, Mihai Eminescu. Here he is again, imortalized by this bust part of the Writer’s Rotunda in Cişmigiu Park.

Today’s posting ends a long period of time that has gone by without any daily photos. This time I do have an excuse – other than not having time or being lazy 
– and that is that I’ve been away from Bucharest since the beginning of August. I miss home a lot and I’m looking forward to returning at the end of December. As you probably guessed already today’s photo is from my archives. This year I’ve missed the entire fall season in my city. I took the photo last year (2010) around mid-November in Cișmigiu Park.
Yes, I know, it’s another of my Cişmigiu photos, but I can’t help it, I love this park. Everytime I pass through it I have to stop and take a photo
Another shot from my favorite park, Cişmigiu. The red truck was featured on this blog before, with the occasion of a Theme Day.
It was brought to my attention that even though I posted numerous photos from Cişmigiu Park here on the blog, I’ve never shown you the nicest attraction in the park, more exactly the artificial lake. During the winter the lake is without water and part of it turns into an ice skating rink but from spring to autumn the lake is filled with water and one can hire boats to row on the lake.
The exotic birds are back in Cişmigiu Park, including this beautiful white peacock which seemed to be the center of attention when I passed by.

I had great plans for this theme day. I was to go and photograph some statues that would fit in both with theme day and with the May Day aka International Workers’ Day (which celebrates the legal establishment of the 8-hour working day, something that we today hold as a given but which wasn’t always so). I know a few statues in Bucharest that can be used to express both these ideas. But … I got stuck in the house with a bad cold so instead of what I planned I’m giving you Atlas, sitting among flowers in Cişmigiu Park. The only thing I’m not sure about is if this qualifies as a statue or it’s better defined as a sculpture.

I’ve spotted this red truck a few days ago while strolling through Cişmigiu Park on a sunny day. I’m guessing it’s being used for the park’s spring cleaning.
